Outreach

The project must serve increase social awareness of the key role of the ocean, and in particular the Atlantic Ocean, setting today’s and future’s climate. We will place special attention to disseminate the importance of the project and its results. For this purpose we will use the usual channels in scientific research (publication in highly ranked journals and international symposia). The data will be also available to the researches in the study area, since we understand that, in order to optimize the contribution to the knowledge, any data from research projects should be promptly available to the scientific community.

We will also continue with our strategy of spreading our interests and the project results to the large public. For this purpose we will use the media (radio, TV, specialized journals and daily news paper) and present and organize numerous conferences at an educational level. A highly dynamic and interactive web page, addressed to audiences of all ages and conditions, will be created and adequately maintained. The participating groups already have experience in the diffusion of results through numerous activities and, specially, through different web pages that have been created in the past linked to previous research projects.

The project shall provide data to carry out at least two PhD dissertations. The planned research will permit the doctoral researchers that participate in this proposal to improve their knowledge and experience, participating in many activities and leading several publications. We consider that we should publish between 6 and 10 research papers per year in highly ranked indexed journals. Additionally, the results will be periodically presented in national and international meetings, with special participation in the PIRATA and SAMOC workshops.
