Tipping Corners in the Meridional Overturning Circulation

BLOG OF TIC-MOC CRUISE

Next March the TIC-MOC team will fly to Ushuaia for going on board in RV Hespérides. We are going to the Brazil-Malvinas confluence zone in order to study the subtropical and subantartic frontal systems. The study area comprises the southwestern region of subtropical South Atlantic Ocean, in the region of contact of the Brazil Current and the Malvinas Current. A tentative map of stations is shown:

At the stations, with a CTD will tobtain vertical profiles of salinity, temperature, disolved oxygen, fluorescence and turbidity. Also, water samples will be taken to determine biogeochemical parameters.  With a LADCP we will obtain the velocity.

If you want to follow everything that we will discover and live during the TIC-MOC cruise, as well as, if we want to get in contact with the scientists on board, you can not miss the TIC-MOC BLOG. We will shortly provide you the link!!!
