Antonio was born in Huelva, Spain, on 24 October 1958. He received his M.S. degree in Physics from the University Autonoma of Madrid, in 1981, and his Ph.D. in the Complutense University of Madrid, in 1987. He is also graduated in Sociology by the UNED University of Spain. From 1985 to 1994 he worked in the Research Center of Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT), in Madrid, Spain. In 1994 he moved to the Laboratory for Research in Combustion Technology, in Zaragoza. After some years as a Research Associate he became Senior Research Scientist (tenured) in this Laboratory in 2000.
The field of expertise of Dr. García-Olivares is the development of mathematical models, theoretical and applied, in Physics and Biology. In particular, models of transport of radionuclides and toxic materials in the biosphere, fluid dynamics, physical oceanography, self-organizing processes in biology and collective behaviour in ecology and social sciences.
